Wonderland in May

Yesterday was beautiful, but this morning was a spectacular wonderland. We got so much heavy, wet snow we had to shake it off some of our trees so their branches wouldn’t break.

That’s Ben in there, shaking the show off.

Winter Storm

Our internet service is down as I’m writing this at 9:00 on Saturday morning, probably from all the heavy, wet snow, so I’ll have to post it later. It is beautiful, I must admit, it’s a nice reprieve from the high-for-this-time-of-year temperatures we were getting, and we do need the moisture, but a nice rain shower would have sufficed for me, though I won’t really complain. The weather, like life itself, is unpredictable and thrilling if we don’t let our personal projections block your perception. When we want something that we either can’t have or can’t control, it causes us problems: frustration, anxiety, disappointment, depression, and anger.

I haven’t been blogging very much lately, obviously. We’re landscaping and filling pottery orders and I’ve been writing another essay about why I’m so compelled to write when I’ve been mentally alert enough to write. It gets harder every year to get into shape for the landscaping and I get so exhausted I can’t stay awake enough to focus my mind to write. I sit down and fall asleep. This is the holiday weekend and the storm has pushed us inside, so I have a couple of extra days, so to speak.

The snow was so beautiful this morning that I couldn’t resist taking a few photographs.
